Welcome to Your Comprehensive Residency Management System!
This guide will walk you through setting up and maximizing the use of your Pediatric Residency Hub. The system is designed to integrate all aspects of your training—from patient care to academic requirements—into one cohesive workspace.
Step 1: Setting Up Your Profile & Current Rotation
Update Your Residency Level
- Navigate to the Residency - PGY-X callout at the top of your dashboard
- Update it to reflect your current year (e.g., PGY-1, PGY-2, etc.)
- This will help you filter relevant rotations and competencies throughout the year
Set Your Current Rotation
- Under Current Rotation, select or create a page for your active rotation
- Each rotation page should include:
- Rotation objectives and learning goals
- Key contacts (attending physicians, senior residents, coordinators)
- Schedule and call responsibilities
- Specific competencies to achieve during this rotation
Step 2: Mastering the Patient Databases
The system includes three specialized patient databases, each designed for different clinical settings:
Inpatient Database
- Purpose: Track all ward patients with structured SOAP notes
- Key Features:
- Service Allocation: View patients organized by medical service (e.g., General Pediatrics, Cardiology, Nephrology)
- Ward Distribution: See patient distribution across different wards
- Resident Assignment: Track which resident is responsible for each patient
- Admission Status: Monitor active admissions, pending discharges, and completed cases
- How to Use:
- Create a new entry for each admitted patient
- Assign the responsible resident (yourself or team members)
- Select the appropriate service and ward location
- Use the SOAP template for daily progress notes
- Link relevant rotation competencies as you apply them to patient care
- Update admission status as patients progress through their hospital stay
Outpatient Database
- Purpose: Manage clinic schedules and outpatient follow-ups
- Key Features:
- Weekly Calendar View: See your upcoming clinic appointments at a glance
- Monthly Overview: Plan ahead for busy clinic periods
- Structured Note Templates: Maintain organized and thorough documentation
- Follow-up Tracking: Never miss a required patient follow-up
- How to Use:
- Add each clinic patient as a new entry
- Set the clinic date and time
- Use the provided templates for well-organized clinic notes
- Mark patients who need follow-up and set reminder dates
- Link to relevant learning opportunities as you encounter new presentations
