The pre-anesthesia assessment is a critical process in the perioperative workflow designed to evaluate a patient’s medical, surgical, and anesthesia history, identify potential risks, and optimize their condition prior to anesthesia and surgery.
Goals of Pre-Anesthesia Assessment
- Identify medical comorbidities that may affect anesthesia and perioperative outcomes.
- Assess the patient's functional status and physical condition.
- Minimize risks and formulate a perioperative plan.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained for anesthesia.
