SMLE Important Points – Zoom:
- 4 hour exam consisting of 200 MCQs and one scheduled break
- Each part is 100 MCQs with 120 minutes each
- Its advised to take the exam at the end of the month
- Blueprint distribution may differ
- Don’t skip the ethics, psych, etc. qs
- Study time: 2-3 months are good for your first attempt
- Less time is needed for your other attempts
- Studying is divided to two main parts:
- Main sources (MUST must cover)
- Pediatrics (Dr Safdar course)
- OBGYN (Dr Wafa)
- Surgery (Dr Abdulmohsen Aldlijan or Dr Abdullah Thawabah course – don’t do both, pick one)
- Medicine (Dr Amer Zahrallyali + Um Al-Qura questions)
- Monthly questions (at least 3 months before your exam, the more the better) and telegram channels
- Ethics + Psychiatry files (helps increasing your percentage)
- Images file (helps increasing your percentage)
- Additional resources (Good sources)
- Surgery by Hamza (more imp than SMLE by Hamza)
- SMLE by Hamza
- Dr J and AlObaidi files for surgery
- Ali Balharith questions for medicine (make sure you check the answers – for all of them as well)
- Dr Abdulrahman Algwaiz file (explanations for answers are there)
- Dr Alaa files
- Badran files
- Any other files
- Organizing the files will help you
- To correct questions:
- Telegram – best for that
- UpToDate – not the best for surgery
- AMBOSS
- Schwartz, Washington Manual, and ATLS for surgery
- Study groups
- Encouraged
- One should be responsible to collect all questions from telegram
- One should be responsible to divide the questions between the group
- Better to be done through a google doc and add their resource for correcting
- Discuss any questions that you aren’t sure of the answer
