• PSGN occurs with low C3 and normal C4
• The following disorders will cause both low C3 and C4:
  • SLE
  • MPGN
  • Infective endocarditis
    • can cause glomerulonephritis due to immune complex deposition
    • disappears with treatment of IE
  • Shunt nephritis
• The following will cause normal C3 and C4
  • IgA nephopathy
  • HSP
